Panoramic Adults-Only Hotel
Funchal, on a September morning
She used to travel alone, as she enjoys the search. In those moments, what she looked for was a blend of tranquility and adventure. She found a soul-mate that shares similar views. Because of this, choosing Madeira as their first destination together was just natural. TUI BLUE Madeira Gardens was a relaxing eden hotel and a good basecamp for their walkabouts and road trips through the island. The hotel had the warm hospitality of Savoy hotels with the cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere of home, allowing them to be at the pool, the spa or at the rooftop jacuzzi, before or after one of their long walks. The name of the hotel does justice to what this Atlantic island is know more “the floating gardens”, as everywhere reminds you tropical gardens. The rooftop terrace offers a magnificent panoramic view over Funchal, with a drink at the nightfall to end the day just right.
Our 3 Day Stay
We arrived on a Friday afternoon, after a hilly 20 min walk-up to the 4* hotel. Only the most adventurous would do that, as we could rather take a Taxi, but we enjoyed the views and the surroundings. The hotel is in a perfect location as you have the most wonderful views over the city and the ocean from the roof terrace.
On our arrival, a welcoming team was already awaiting for us with a smile on their faces. While we checked-in, we couldn’t wait to discover the rest of the hotel. A refreshing pool was waiting for us outside while we had our first meal in their restaurant – a delicious salmon salad (also a Gardens signature).
After settling down, we went on to explore the beautiful botanical gardens in Funchal, one of the city’s ex-libris, as it has plants from the four corners of the globe. On our way back, we stopped at the iconic Rei da Poncha to try Madeira’s drink signature Poncha.
The next day we had an early varied breakfast at the Laurissilva buffet restaurant, which was our fuel for the day ahead. We were adventure ready! Got a rented car and headed straight to “Pico do Arieiro” for our hike. As the day ended he went back to the Gardens. We felt like replenishing our energy at the rooftop bar and jacuzzi while taking some more photos of the sunset in a magnificent panoramic view.
We spent our last night on one of their deluxe rooms, for a seriously relaxing and luxurious experience, that I review in this article. After waking up, we watched a beautiful sunrise from the balcony and headed to soak up at their magnificent pool area. We ended our beautiful stay at Gardens Spa (we’re always up for SPA TIME) although we thought we would enjoy it more outside summer season when it’s a bit chilly.
The Rooms

When they say “they take your rest seriously”, they really do.
From deluxe rooms to double rooms with ocean view, this 4* hotel offers the most comfortable, quiet and calm spaces, in a modern and sophisticated environment, equipped with life facilitating utilities.
Review of Deluxe Room
Seriously unique space for unique guests
We’ve stayed one night at Tui Sensimar Gardens, the most luxurious accommodation. This 43.40 sq. m room sit in a new area of the hotel called Villa Gardens. We were really impressed with the room’s design, uniqueness and sophistication. It makes you feel involved in a relaxing environment while stimulating your senses with an elegant combination of contemporary design and the island’s elements.
The room highlights, in my opinion, are the bathroom with walk-in glass shower (giving a sense of openess and nature evolving) and the balcony facing the swimming pool.
Everything was outstanding, from design to cleanliness. The room has air conditioning, bathrobe, Tea & Coffee making facilities, complimentary welcome tray with mineral water, Tea & Coffee, Hairdryer & Toiletries.
Strongly Recommend! You can book on their website or through booking.com

Review of Double Ocean View
Rooms for Tranquility
Imagine waking up in a comfortable bed, surrounded in absolute calm and, on top of it open the curtains to see the sunlight and the ocean. This is what you’ll get if you stay in one of these fantastic rooms.
The rooms are in the main hotel infrastructure so you can go up and down the building and to the breakfast area without having to go by the swimming pool like the Villas Gardens. They offer the same comfort although these are older compared to the deluxe rooms.
The highlight of the room is definitely the views to the ocean and Funchal. We found the beds quite comfortable as well and they leave you a bowl with fruits with a welcoming note which is very sweet and welcoming.

Eat & Drink
A seriously delicious
There are two restaurantes: the Laurissilva restaurant (also a reference to Madeira Laurissilva forest) ? where they serve the buffet breakfast, which is amazing, they have everything from English breakfast to continental and a wide selection of pastries and fruits ? . All you need before heading on to a trail in “Pico do Arieiro” or any tours around the island.
The a la carte restaurant “Culinarium” offers a perfect gastronomic experience for a seriously romantic date.
End the day at the Panoramic Rooftop Bar, watching the sunset and tasting one of their cocktails ?. What’s more? You can also do all of this while chilling on the jacuzzi.
Spa, Jacuzzi and Pool

Talking about jacuzzi, imagine being in a jacuzzi at a rooftop with a panoramic view? Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion like a hen do or just chilling with your partner after a long day hike in Madeira, it’s serious relaxation and fun that we’re talking about.
The Gardens Spa features an indoor pool, spa with sauna, Turkish bath and ice fountain. The spa is brand new and they offer a 10 to 15% off on their massages for guests. However, I think you’ll make best use of the spa if you come outside summer as in hot season we’d rather stay outside or by the pool.
The large swimming pool combined with a great pool area is one of the best assets of this hotel. Madeira doesn’t have many beaches, so to have an hotel where you can get a good tan while on holiday is a plus.Remember it’s an adults-only hotel though.
Experiences and TUI Holiday
In addition to the Spa Experience, the hotel has some representatives of TUI holiday. That might be the reason why it’s also called TUI BLUE Madeira Gardens – Savoy Signature. They organise welcome meetings, extensive hiking tours or other excursions for the guests. What’s more? There’s also a full range of other activities such as fitness and concerts taking place at the hotel. You can check the programme through the BLUE App.
