The Alchemist Traveler

At the foot of the Serra de Grândola, Portugal the Herdade das Barradas da Serra offers an oasis of peace and nature in the heart of the Alentejo. This family-run agricultural estate, with five generations of history, invites guests to an authentic and unforgettable experience.

A unique setting

The estate covers 800 hectares of cork oak forest, just 15 minutes from the beaches of the Alentejo Coast and one hour from Lisbon. Its privileged location allows guests to enjoy the natural beauty of the region, the tranquility of the countryside, its animals and the proximity of the sea.

Rural tourism with a soul

The Herdade das Barradas da Serra offers harmonious and authentic rural tourism. Guests are welcomed as family and accommodated in rooms where comfort and silence will rejuvenate them. The decoration and configuration of the rooms invite you to breathe in the Alentejo atmosphere, so unique and demarcated in our country. On the other hand, the human touch offered by the employees in all interactions, whose kindness is as much a result of their Alentejo roots as of the hotel training offered by the family, and also by Elsa, the host of this place, contributes uniquely to the feeling of belonging, on an estate that welcomes you as a guest and will make you feel special.

Unique experiences in Alentejo

The estate offers its guests a variety of unique experiences, such as:

• Trails and Walks: Starting and largely taking place within the 800 hectares of the estate, the trails surprise with their natural beauty (including cork oaks, streams with small rock waterfalls and, of course, the famous viewpoint at the top of the Serra de Grândola mountain, considered its highest point, at 300 meters). We recommend the 10 km route that took us +/- 3 hours to complete.

• Visits to the agricultural holding: Guests can learn about the agricultural activity of the estate in depth, from sheep farming to cork production.

• Co-drive Experience in a SSV Can Am: Are you a motorsport fan, a speed lover or simply looking for thrills? The co-drive experience puts you alongside a racing driver on a track used for off-road vehicle testing.

• Yoga Classes: To the sound of nature, Margarida, Elsa’s daughter, guides guests through yoga classes that take place, by appointment, in the morning or at the end of the day.

Car racing also runs in the family’s blood

The Dias family’s passion for motorsport is contagious. Luis, Elsa’s husband, is an experienced driver who competed for 17 years in off-road racing, winning the championship twice. The estate has been the scene of training and vehicle development, and the family’s workshop has contributed to the growth of the sport in the region.

A family atmosphere and perfect gateway

At Herdade das Barradas da Serra, the Dias family is dedicated to providing their guests with a personalised and memorable experience. Their genuine hospitality and deep knowledge of the region ensure that each guest feels at home.

For those looking for a peaceful and authentic getaway, Herdade das Barradas da Serra is the ideal place. Here, guests can relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the Alentejo, the peace of the countryside and the hospitality of a dedicated family.

Visit Grândola with your partner or alone, and be sure to stop by Herdade das Barradas da Serra for a welcoming and retreat stay.
