About Me

About Me - The Alchemist Traveler
My story

Marketer, traveler,
digital nomad.

Hi, I’m Andreia — I’ve loved traveling since I was young, and I’ve built a life that reflects that. Over the years, I lived in two countries outside Portugal: first Spain, then the UK, for a total of 10 years abroad. Those years shaped how I see the world and what I believe is possible.

I spent 15+ years working in marketing, including affiliate marketing — learning the industry from the inside, building real skills, and understanding how digital income actually works. Then in 2024, I made a deliberate shift: I became a full-time freelancer and entrepreneur. Not by accident, but as a conscious choice to design a life with more freedom — to travel, to work on my own terms, and to slow down when I need to.

This blog is where that experience meets purpose. Strategy meets soul. My real aim is to empower women to travel — freely, confidently, on their own terms — and have that same experience for themselves.

The inspiration

Why “The Alchemist”?

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

— Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

The name comes from Paulo Coelho’s novel — the story of a shepherd boy who sells everything to follow a dream across the Arabic desert toward the pyramids of Egypt. Along the way, he discovers that the real treasure was always in the journey itself.

When I first read it, mid-trip somewhere between flights, it articulated something I already felt but hadn’t yet named: travel is a path to your personal legend. The blog was born from that realization — and it’s still the compass I write by.

What this blog stands for

Three things I genuinely
believe in — and write about.

Empowering women to travel

My real aim is to inspire and empower women to travel — solo, freely, and with confidence. To have the same experiences I’ve had. You don’t need to wait for the right moment or the right companion. You just need the right information.

Real income online

Affiliate marketing, blogging, and digital income streams are not passive overnight miracles. They’re skills — learnable, buildable skills. I’ll show you how, honestly.

The inner journey

Travel changes you in ways no guidebook can prepare you for. I write about that too — who you become when you step out of your comfort zone and into the world.

Psychology and self-development are close to my heart too — years of therapy and inner work find their way into everything I write here.

A life in motion

Some chapters of
the ongoing journey.

The early years

A love of travel begins

Travel was always part of life — not restlessness, just genuine curiosity about the world. Living in Spain and then the UK for 10 years opened up a bigger perspective and made going somewhere new feel natural, not extraordinary.

Age 27

First solo trip

Traveling alone for the first time was a turning point. Not a dramatic leap, but a quiet proof — that you can go wherever you want, on your own schedule, and come back more yourself than when you left.

The book, the moment

Reading The Alchemist on the road

Somewhere between destinations, I read Paulo Coelho’s novel and recognized my own story in it. The idea clicked — a space at the intersection of wanderlust, strategy, and self-discovery.

15+ years

Building a career in marketing

Spent over 15 years working in marketing — including affiliate marketing — learning how digital income really works, from the inside. Skills that would eventually make location-independence possible.

2022

The Alchemist Traveler goes live

What started as a personal travel diary became something bigger: a resource for women who want to travel freely, earn online, and discover who they are along the way.

2024

Full-time freelancer & entrepreneur

Made the leap: left employment to become a full-time freelancer and entrepreneur. The freedom to travel, work from anywhere, and slow down — not someday, but now.

Still going

4 continents. 15+ countries. Counting.

Morocco. Bali. Brazil. Portugal. Europe. South America. The list keeps growing — and so does everything I have to share with you.
